I found and read the article you referenced.

The alcohol does seem to be more logical than water.  The cautions for both
(distilled water or ETOH) are, however, is to remove the battery first. SO
this is my worry, and that perhaps the "short" has already occurred and
damaged the unit. OR, if not to remove the battery or isolate it is
important. THis means removing the casing.  As I mentioned I'm having
trouble doing this.  I'm hoing somebody can tell me the trick to opening the
unit up.
