Latin-1 Supplement in QString

Hi,

I use some special letters from the Latin-1 Supplement unicode std.
I import these from an XML file to QString, but the special 
characters gets shown as "square boxes" ...

Howto read the string(s) as Latin-1 when parsing with std. xml 
handler, i.e. character data is parsed as QString ... ??

Any help will be greatly appreciated,
