Ideally I would like to disable this feature for all applications, but
since I can't do that, I would like to disable it for as many
applications as I can, most of all those that are particularly slow to
start.

Using a nice big button for closing applications is both a waste of
resources (I could put that nice button to much better use) and a
cause of inconvenience through involuntarily closed applications that
must be restarted.

Apparently even the Qtopia programmers realized that the system is not
optimal, as they provided an exception for the console application.

Konrad.
