I agree entirely. They should have had a separate power button.

I think the problem you are having is to do with the fact that the on
button has to be held for more than 1 second to turn it on. I believe it
was done like this on purpose to help stop it being accidentally turned on.
But if they had a separate power button that was tucked under the flip
cover then there wouldn't be such a problem and then would be no accidental
closing of applications a losing data instead of turning the Zaurus off.
They could have at least put the power button on the OK button as that has
less potential for data loss.

I like having a button to close applications; but it's a problem having
it be the same button as OFF, and having OFF be more difficult to do.
I tend to put PDAs on awkward corners of desks and such, and I'm forever
doing: press OFF, try to hold, finger slips or Z slips off whatever
stack of stuff it's on top of, app exits losing all context about where
it was.

I wish the Z had a simple OFF switch.

I also wish it had an ON switch that worked.  Is it a hardware problem
with mine, or does everybody have to press the button three or four
times before the thing actually turns on?
