IMAP in 3.1 ROM

Has anybody else gotten the IMAP client in the 3.1 rom to do
anything useful?

The first time it connected it spent about 15 minutes scanning
all of my IMAP folders -- now whenever it connects it just
locks up dead.

Is there any way to tell it to only pay attention to certain
IMAP folders?  WTH does it insist on opening and scanning
everything it can find?

I may have to switch to POP.  :(
