I am looking to mainly program tools for myself. I have a 5600 and it has plenty of space for compilation and programs. If any of my personal tools prove useful, I plan to release them for other people to noodle around with and, hopefully, improve. I really like perl and C, but they are such monsters on the Z (perhaps when Perl 6 comes out it will be better... Larry wants it to run on his Palm Pilot). I am mainly choosing Java because I am interested in learning it (thanks to the great new Head First Java book that is out) and it is on my 5600 by default. I am highly impressed by some of the java-base programs that I have found out there as well. Java Chess is quite good and VERY small. That's inspirational. I have found about 20 or so Java programs for the Z... so some people are using it. Also, J2ME is widely supported platform API. Its on everything from Palm Devices to Ericson phones. Getting some experience programming for the Z in Java has the potential for paying off from the experience alone. Besides... I just want to . Thanks for the warning though. Jim
