Not nit picky to me. Over time keyboard makers DID move the non-letters
around, and the Kenisis certainly has some "other" adjustments but my
top row was originally. 

= 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 0 -
and is now.
= 7 5 3 1 9 0 2 4 6 8 -

My Mac keyboards are as you mention above.

But assuming you keep your fingers in in rows, your 5 is still supposed
to go to the left index finger, and 6 to the right index finger, and ^ 
is still closer to the left home row.
