I would demand that Dvorak be provided, either through a driver or through a hard-wired keyboard. That's a minor accommodation to make for the sake of the worker's health. I've been typing Dvorak for 13 years now, and I type about 65wpm. Within the last year I've been working at a place where I'm forced to use Scholes - they refuse to install the Dvorak key map and they have Windows's security locked down so tight I can't do it myself. Guess what? In about a week, I was up to 25 wpm on Scholes, and now I'm typing about 35 wpm. Keyboarding isn't a critical requirement at work, or I would have raised more of a stink about the keymap. The recovery of my Scholes skills (such as they are - I think I topped out at 40 wpm) has in no way affected my Dvorak typing. The human mind is a very flexible thing. To those of you just learning Dvorak, don't take this to mean you can/should mix and match!! Cold turkey is the way to go.
