I don't know why, but I find this to be more comfortable. I can tell you exactly why I do the same thing: I'm left-handed and I've had a lot of problems with carpal tunnel in my right (weaker) wrist. When I'm stuck on a straight keyboard - I use an "ergonomic" one at home - I tend to rotate the keyboard to straighten out my right wrist which needs the help considerably more than my left. What also helped was stopping wearing a watch when I'm typing: again, being left-handed, I wore it on the right.
