Re: New Kinesis

I have been using the Kinesis for several years now. The thumb 
keys make much more sense than overworking the right pinky. 
Another thing is that the right hand is now usually holding the 
mouse, so putting more keys on the left side is more efficient 
and balances the load.
  
  That's a good idea by switching the Enter and Delete keys. I 
never really had a problem with the default positions. But now 
that I think about it, if left hand stays on keyboard, why not 
put a useful key like Enter there.
  
  There is a good reason I never bothered moving the Enter key 
to the left: I relegate many functions to my multi-buttoned 
mouse (currently the awesome MX Revolution). I have five extra 
mouse buttons for Space, Back, Enter, Copy, and Paste. The 
thumb buttons for Copy and Paste. (Why are people still using 
the awkward Ctrl-C and Ctrl-V? Shouldn't new keyboards have 
special buttons for copy and paste, at least?) Middle finger 
controls the wheel that can also move side to side, thus Back and 
Space makes sense here. (Aside, I also use Opera and 
reconfigured it so that Back and Space moves to previous and 
next tab, respectively.) There's another key below the wheel 
which I now use as Enter. This configuration for the mouse 
makes it extremely easy to manipulate texts, advance dialog 
boxes, and enter forms.
 
 I also changed several other keys around. Caps Lock is now 
Escape. Insert is Equal sign =. Brackets are / and +. This way I 
don't have to shift for the plus sign (must use keypad + to 
reprogram this). Sometimes Right Alt is Scroll Lock for KVM 
switches. Don't use keypad at all, but I still removed the 
Windows function (either D or B).
