There are plenty of good CANopen protocol stacks. If you are looking for 
very lightweight one,
take a look at MicroCANopen from ESAcademy. Also stacks from e.g. Kvaser 
and Ixxat are worth
of considering into embedded applications.

Thanks. I asked and the standard is only available for members.  However, 
google seems to be a member since I found version 3.2.1 on there. 
 
I don?t know anything about CanOpen, is it an API I can buy? A light 
weight real time C language API for TI chips would be ideal. Does that 
exist or do I have to create my own?

Please take a look at CiA-302-3. It specifies the best SW-download 
mechanism currently existing. Using
that enables you to use standard CANopen tools in the host-side.

If you are not a CiA-member, you should ask for the doc - it seems not be 
available for non-members in

Hey all,
 
I am brand new to CAN. I am tasked with reprogramming several TI chips 
(28069, 28035) over CAN. Basically the TI chips have a bootstrap loader. 
On bootup they will look for a certain message over can that will tell it 
to jump to the reprogramming software. This software will get a new 
software image over the CAN bus and save it in flash. 
 
Is there any example code available on how to transfer a file over CAN? I 
know how to read a file in C/C++ in binary mode and then send it over 
something like Ethernet or serial. Is there a difference when doing 
something like this over CAN? Are there any pitfalls I should be aware of?
