This question is not easy to answer. It depends:
- on the complexity of the device,
  (remember I asked already if you have to implement a special device profile)
- Of your experiences with the controller and CANopen protocol

If you are just beginning with CANopen, our experience says:
 	Don't start your Development
	Go with a proven CANopen Protocol Stack
It saves you time AND money
