Some years ago we had indeed the same situation with the BananaPI based on the 
Allwinner A20. The CAN is nearly SJA1000 compatible but not fully. And it was 
difficult to get a manual as well. After getting the information it was easy 
to adopt the SJA1000 based code of can4linux for it.  There are still some 
companies using the CAN interface with can4linux.

Now I have a new BananaPI-M2 with Allwinner V40 which too have a CAN.
