Hey all,

For those who don't know, I'm trying to put open source software
(specifically, opensource gps and eCOS) on OEM GPS receivers based on the
Zarlink GP4020. I've decided to call my version of the project "GPL-GPS"
because it'll come under the GPL license. The website is
http://gps.psas.pdx.edu/.

There are other folks working on this kind of things as well (go Tak go!),
and it'll be great to see how everything fits together over time.

GPL-GPS is doing well, but I've only got the infrastructure work done. eCOS
now runs on the Zarlink GP4020 and has been checked into the eCOS cvs tree
- it's called "gps4020" and it's an ARM variant so it's in the ARM
architecture tree. It works great, but none of the OpenSource GPS code has
been ported yet.

Due to work and family considerations, I've got to put off all further work
until October. This includes hardware work, so people who want hardware
from me are going to have to wait until early October (sorry!).

This also means I'm going to miss the ION GNSS 2004 conference
(@!$^^@$@#!!!). For those who do go, have fun, and let me know how it goes!

I plan on showing up at the ION NTM 2005 - I hope to see you all then!

Andrew
