RE: Morning Routine

Daily:
In our ERP make sure that all the background data queue processing jobs are running,
respond to interactive jobs left open from the previous day
Unexpected jobs in the job queues
I have several reports sent to my spool file each day that include 
-excess jobs in system (Qxxxx) outqs
-ERP parts errors (example a part in a BOM but not in the parts master)
-Badges for terminated employees (because HR didn't notify me)
-History log for the past day that I scroll though looking for open issues
Work with problems
Work active jobs
- Making sure we don't have any runaway jobs
- Checking disk usage
- Making sure all of the kiosks on the floor are reporting in
- unexpected jobs in MSGW or any in LCKW status
-note the number of active jobs on the system
-Any writers with issues or not started that should be
-Look at Display Qsysopr message Queue for anything in the past 24 hours with unexpected status
Review the backup from overnight to see if there were any issues
Email review and Messaging notifications (we use MS Teams) for anything needing immediate attention.

I also have reports sent to our controller of ERP batches (not batch jobs) that are incomplete, she reaches out to the offending parties and gets them to finish the batch

Weekly:
I look at the disk status (mostly to see if any of the disks have lost parity)
Review the incorrect passwords for the past week
Compare IBMs most current group PTF list against what we have installed.
QMGTOOLS/DSPUPSSTS to make sure our UPS is still reporting healthy.

For many of these I have scheduled commands in the job scheduler to run, they are ready to review when I get to my desk.

Reaching out to IBM i admins.

What are some of the common tasks that you perform each morning to verify that the system is running cleanly?  Realizing every system has its own unique attributes, I am just curious to see how much we are alike.
