Bluetooth has a maximum range of 30 feet. That's in optimum conditions. You might get down as low as 15 feet in real world applications. At 2GHz or so, it doesn't go through walls very well either. Bluetooth is DESIGNED to have short range - it's for connecting keyboards, mice, headsets, microphones, telephones, PDA's and such within the area of someone's desk, car or body while they are on the move. Having a longer range would just increase the risk of interference between people in a crowd or cars on a freeway, so the short range is a FEATURE - it's considered desirable. Better to pick one of the 802.11 standards - they are much longer range and inter-operate better with Internet standards and such.
