Liz, I wouldn't make any quick decisions yet - I'm not getting rid of my RIS 1.5 because I'm finding there are already 3rd party products being developed (www.hitechnic.com) that will allow the RCX and the NXT to communicate and will also allow the RIS sensors and motors to be used by the NXT. One thing to consider is that as the RIS gets more difficult to find, there may be a demand for them from collectors and/or those who wish to build combo RIS/NXT bots. You may have a nice eBay offering right there that could finance some NXT purchases! As for competitions, there is some discussion going on about NXT versus RIS... it's not really debate because we have no information to base a true comparison on... only after the first FLL competitions start reporting in will we see if the 2 systems are on uneven footing. Wow... 20 RIS! I wish I had been able to study this stuff when I was in school...
