Hello, It works like an interactive remote control. That way you can play with it and develop your skill. Vary few people have been able to walk the marble uphill on the first try. First RCX is for the base it has 2 motors and 3 rotation sensors. 1 rotation sensor has a knob and is mounted to a controller. Second RCX is for the rail 1 motor and 2 rotation sensors. 1 rotation sensor has a knob and is also mounted to the controller. The rail code basically determines direction and speed by the difference and time apart of the 2 sensors. In other words the rail always trys to be in the same position as the remote control. The faster you turn the knob the faster the rail moves. The base works the same way but is more complicated. I also have a preprogrammed routine that can be accessed with the Lego Mindstorm brand remote. Originally I wanted To Have one RCX for both base and rail and a second to control it with Infrared through lnp. Unfortunately I never figured it all out. HTH Check back in a few days for a picture of the controller and I will also try to get the code file moderated. Best Regards Chris
