Please need help to get lirc running

Hello,
I've got an Intel NUC with an IR receiver. This box runs with actual
Archlinux (x86_64) and kernel 4.9.27 (configured and compiled by
myself). I also have got an "old" (mini) remote control for a pinnacle
PCTV PCMCIA card.
My goal is to execute a script on the NUC box when a key is pressed on
the remote control.
For days I've been trying to reach my goal, but I've been so far in vain.
Could somebody help me to get it running?
