new kernel problem

Hi,

Having used LIRC for 15 years without any problem (except for 1 time
empty batteries in the remote) I compiled a new kernel, 4.12.

Now I can not get LIRC working.

Also, I do not find documentation for using the new kernel module.
The old one, lirc_serial disappeared.

Running Debian stable.

Any ideas?
