thank you for the pointer. your project's scope does looks really interesti=
ng, I love signal analysers in particular.

but here I'm looking for a lightweight solution for decoding 19bits of data.

if patching the lirc project itself is not recommended, is there any way of=
 telling lircd to use an external decoder for the raw data it gets from the=
 driver? or should I simply write a mode2 wrapper (a C application that spa=
wns mode2 and gets it's stdout)?
