Okay it seems to me there are some differences between Ubuntu and 
Debian testing. In my Ubuntu 5.04, there is kdebase-devel and 
kde-devel (bigger package which will pull in kdebase-devel).

I used to be able to get Debian testing packages working on
Ubuntu. However the new Debian testing version packages require
newer libc6 package. Therefore I have to use Ubuntu package 
or build my own for some new packages.

Interestingly, I need to install kde-devel to build Pikdev 0.8 
version. Before 0.8, there was a experimental Debian package 
from Pikdev website. Therefore I have 100s of MB of KDE stuff
even though I do not use it right now (still have not installed
the 'kde' package). Still with my newly installed broadband
connection, I think I would install the kde package to avoid
dependency problem.

Interesting:
dpkg -l kdebase*  show no package named kdebase-devel.. but there is a
kedebase-dev.

dpkg -l kde*-devel  Only show kde-devel.

Just checked and I did have kedebase-dev installed and that was giving
me the KDE error.  Thats why I had to do the kde-devel install.
