Yes, I know, but I come from realigning the entire system:

# emerge -euvaDN system && emerge -euvaDN system
# emerge -euvaDN world

To take the new changes in glibc with latest kernel headers.
Now everything is much more rapid and fluid, except that the "only" 
package that does not compile is gtk+extra

I also believe that gpsin should remove gtk+extra and passed of gtk2 to 
gtk3 (which will be released in June 2010).
I'll have to forget the gpsim GUI and trying to make it work gpsim from 
piklab.
