That is truly the one downside in C... some coders' styles can render 
code quite illegible. I am certain some developers do it for "job 
security", though I've seen this mentality render those developers less 
promotable out of their current roles, as it would make their current 
role harder to backfill.

Though I recommend a basic text editor to start learning, I find that a 
C-savvy editor that can collapse blocks ( enclosed with '{' and '}' ) to 
be very helpful.
