There has been some work in putting solar panels in far northern
Arctic communities that are run from diesel generators.. here in Canada,
also in Alaska and Scandinavia.

It seems ridiculous on the face, and our dear leader has been mocked for it,
but if they can reduce diesel consumption
by 20% or 25% it make sense -- since power is 10x the cost it becomes
economical at a much higher effective cost per kWh of solar energy.

Anyway, I wonder what they do to deal with ice and snow.
