[EE] Cyclic torque loads on AC motors?

Suppose I have an AC motor directly cranking a piston pump+check valve air compressor without a flywheel or anything like that. For 180 degrees of shaft rotation, the motor experiences a load of 2 Newton-meters while air is exhausted/compressed, and then for the other 180 degrees when air is being taken in there is little to no load (almost 0 Newton-meters of torque). The average torque of the cycle appears to be roughly 1 Newton-meter. Can an AC induction motor rated for 1 Newton-meter of torque at full load be used in this situation without wrecking it? -- Jason White
