Probably the thinnest fr4 I can find (.015-0.030 mill) as even .033 mil fr4 is only good for about 1,600V before derating. I'll make the shield/leakage collector out of fr4 (clad) as well, glue that into the coil form and insulate the shield plate with kapton as well. There are a lot of coil formers out there, but not if you just want to buy 1. Also, apparently some polyimide is not halogenated. I'll make a little hand crank winding fixture, shouldn't be horribly painfull for say 300 turns. 6 mills of polyimide is good for about 45KV before derating, should suffice and survive at least one EMP... Not quick, but I've done tedious before. It helps to listen to music and take brakes when it starts numbing your brain.
