I have an electrical garage door closer which i8s activated by either a
wireless remote control or a wired push button.
I have built a unit using a PIC16F88 to measure the position of the door
and transmit it back to my house (The garage is not visible from the house)
This unit is mounted on the steel beam which carries the belt and track for
moving the door.

This works fine when I command the door by the push button but when I use
the remote control the PIC resets.
This only occurs when the unit is in its normal position on the beam. If I
move it even an inch below the beam it doesn't happen.
Even curiouser: if I hold the beam within a couple of feet of the unit it
works properly.

I don't want to spend what few years remain to me hanging onto a beam in my
garage so any ideas?
