i liked the "leak light detection" suggestion and could do double duty as
that.

I posted some images on EEVBLOG which resulted in

"A Numark “turntable target light” is a small cueing lamp used on certain
Numark DJ turntables to illuminate the record surface right where the

environments"

And an image search for "Numark turntable target light" finds exact matches.
