Bryan,

I had to pass your questions to our hardware designer as they were out of my
jurisdiction. However...

...he suggested an inadequate power supply could be the cause of the
problem. Sure enough, changing the supply does seem to sort it out. I then
moved the library init to a different constructor and tried the dodgy supply
again. The application fell over again but at a different point in the
start-up, where it tries to init the quarter VGA display. This seems to
prove that the supply really is the culprit.

So, we can all stop worrying about it and get a good night's sleep :)

Thanks,

David
