help DSTINIM400 - no network !

Hello,

After extended checks, it is still not possible to do a "ping" from my TINI
to a PC or the reverse.

I did check the data sheet as suggested by Tom : all jumpers seem to be in
the good position ; I did try jumper 10 in both positions (10 Mbps or 100
Mbps) both home with a single PC and fixed IP adresses, and at my office,
on the company's network, served by DHCP, with the help of the network
administrator.

The result is always the same : a led on the socket board is flikkering,
telling that there is contact between the socket board and the network but
it seems there is no network contact between the socket board and the TINI
module.

Notice that a ping from TINI on "localhost" or on the fixed adress of the
module works well.

When trying to get an adress from the DHCP server, the network
administrator could see that the server did not receive any request from
TINI.

If you have an idee of what can be wrong, any help will be appreciated.

Kind regards
Alain

Hello Tom,

Thanks for answering so fast.
I think that my ethernet card is a 10/100 and probably the PC is
autosensing, so the ping from TINI to the PC should work ... and it
doesn't.
But as I have no better idea, I shall check the data sheet and do some
additional tests this week end.

I'll keep you informed.

Thanks again
Alain

Do you have a link light on the TINI? My guess is that you have a straight
100Mbps network you are connecting to as opposed to a 10/100 network. The
TINI is not autosensing, you need to set the jumpers on the TINI for
100Mbps
operation. Check the data sheet on the TINI website for details.

Hello,

I just mounted my new DSTINIM400 module on a new DSTINIS400 socket.
I did download tini1_12.zip to my PC and unzipped it.
After making all connections ( power, serial 0 and network ), I did connect
to the module with JavaKit -400 -flash 40 and loaded files tini_400.tbin
and slush_400.tbin
The loader seems to be OK : it reports :
Welcome to the TINI DS80C400 Auto Boot Loader 1.0.1
Slush seems to be OK : it reports :
TINI OS 1.12 - Copyright ...Welcome to slush
After login as root,
the IP adress of the module is set to 192.168.1.7 with subnet mask
255.255.255.0
The PC has adress 192.168.1.6 with mask 255.255.255.0 and is connected to
the module via a crossed cable.
ftp does not work, telnet does not work and even a ping does not work ( in
either direction ).
Pinging another PC ( instead of TINI ) with the same cable works, so the
cable is OK and the network interface of the PC is OK.

Any idee of what is wrong ?
I really would apreciate your help.

Thanks in advance.
Alain
