How can I know if a PPP conection is still OK in time?

Hello, I'm trying to create a PPP conection using GPRS. At the beginning everything is OK. The information is transmitted. If the modem loses the signal only for a little time, the connection still looks fine but it doesn't work. Nothing is passed. No event is received (I use tini1.12 and it has :starting, up and closed events). Does anybody have an idea about how I can see the state of the connection? Thanks.
