Just for your information, I can recommend the 1-wire LCD-Controller fra
Louis Swart, its only 16 $ and works very well.
It also provides 3 i/o pins (open collector) and 1 extra input, all of them
set up as counters too.

It comes with a datasheet, however it is also supported in the owfs-projekt,
where you can see examples of its use.

Dear Jinq - You could use the AAG Electronica's 1-Wire LCD display
interfaced to TINI's 1-Wire I/O.  Ref:  http://www.aagelectronica.com/aag/

TAI8590 1-Wire Text User Interface

I have one and it works very nice; and includes provisions for switch
closure detection.  It uses the DS2408 1-Wire 8-bit PIO.  So, you don't need
ANY parallel I/O bits at all!

Interface allow you to connect a LCD Character display to your 1-Wire
network and recieve messages from the host system. Also included in the
module is the capability to connect push buttons to allow you to interact
