Enhanced network stack problem

Hi all, I installed the enhanced network stack in my program, I am using a custom board I made with the DS80C400 and a ST PHY (STE100p). When I run my program, my phy (could be the ds80c400's mac) stops working. The LED's for the Ethernet don't light up as if it were in MII isolate mode. When I run my program with the default network stack, everything works fine? IS the enhanced network stack disabling the PHY or the MAC? Resetting the PHY thru software works for only a second and then it dies again. Please help.
