Of course it does, I've got a couple years under my belt as well, but I don't want to have to look under the hood every time I start the car. My point being that if you are going to call C "dangerous" because it has pointers, then you are going to have to call direct stack modification, direct memory read/writes, and the jmp'ing of assembly "deadly".
