Hi Joel, I use a TStik mounted on to a custom designed socket board assembly. I would suggest you use a Philips PCF8574 8-bit I/O expander I.C. for what you want as this is ideal for digital I/O. If you need more than 8 I/O pins you can either use more devices or use the PCF8575 16-bit version. When used as outputs, both these devices will sink about 25mA per output but will only source a small amount of current so you may have to add driver transistors depending on what/how you are driving the loads. Reading inputs is quite straight forward although you must make sure you can sink the weak pull-up inside the device. We use a lot of other I2C devices as well which all work very well with the TStik. Make sure you use 1.12 of the TINI firmware along with Systronix's API for configuring the configuration register (it defaults to CAN bus so you have to use this to switch to I2C), otherwise things might not work properly.
