Dear Vijay - Re: "IP address of TINI..., was colliding with the DHCP on the
D-Link".

So, I was right! In my little TINI development LAN here, I:

(1) Lease an IP via my ISPs DSL MODEM (via NAT), or...

(2) Assign each PC and TINI an unique IP address (192.168.1.1, 192.168.1.2,
192.168.1.3, ++ ad nauseum), with the NetMask for all as 255.255.255.0.
Then, I am guaranteed that I have no "collisions".

I don't use a gateway.

My LAN runs 3 desktop PCs, a laptop, six TINIs, and Systronix TStiks,
JStamp, JStik, Saje. All of the TINIs are mounted on a big sheet of 1/4"
plastic and I label each IP next to the TINI's socket board.

Sometimes, I also paste a label on some special 1-Wire "devices", so that I
can easily identify them.

Everything routes to a 16 port hub from my aDSL MODEM.

Glad that I was able to help you out! Best regards, Kelly Smith

Hi Kelly,

Thx for your response, I appreciate it. I got the
problem resolved. I have a D-Link wireless router and
my PCs are connected to it in a home netwk. I conneted
the TINI directly on one of the PC with a crossover
cable. It seems that I had to change my settings on
the LAN card of my PC and give it a static IP and
default gateway as itself(and ofcourse the mask too).
I left the DNS settings blank(don't know if that would
be a problem). And, I could telnet TINI from that PC.
I think the IP address of TINI which I gave before,
192.168.0.15, was colliding with the DHCP on the
D-Link. I also changed the IP address of TINI to
192.168.1.20

But, I cannot reach TINI on this PC from any other
PCs, in the home network. I assigned a gateway IP to
TINI as the PC to which it is connected. Any ideas ??

Vijay
