XTALMULT = 2 slows down Ethernet transfer rate ?

Dear all,

we use DSTiniM400 & DSTiniS400 and the most recent KEIL C programming environment. 

We changed from XTALMULT = 1 to XTALMULT = 2 in the startup400.a51 file and expected higher Ethernet transfer rate.
But the reverse happens:

XTALMULT = 1 ==>  0.53 Mbit/s raw data
XTALMULT = 2 ==>  0.37 Mbit/s raw data

The data direction was TINI ==> PC, with 700 byte packets averaged over 1'000 packets.
Both tests were done under the same conditions.

Any idea what's wrong here?
