Hardreset using software on MCF5282 ColdFire

I am using ColdFire MCF5282. Does anyone know how to set the RSTO pin to
perform a hard reset? I tried to assert the pin but it doesn't do the
job. The manual doesn't seem to help. Below is the help from the manual.

Allows software to assert or negate the external RSTO pin.

1 Assert RSTO pin

0 Negate RSTO pin

CAUTION: External logic driving reset configuration data during reset
needs to be considered when asserting the RSTO pin when setting
FRCRSTOUT.
