I too had a problem of machine check exception in my application. In our application we were executing a part of an exception handler from RAM. Initially the whole thing was fine. But when we enabled Branch Target Buffer(BTB) to enhance CPU throughput, the code executed from RAM started generating machine check exception( I was also seeing that the code at RAM as 0x00000000 ). The work around that we found out was to disable BTB while executing code from RAM. I'm not familiar with Codewarrior, so I've stayed out of this. However it might be worth mentioning that the MPC555 supports a hardware breakpoint when a particular value is written to memory. If you have a lot of code to step through, or need to run real-time to reproduce the problem, setting a data breakpoint might be an easier way to find the corruption.
