Unable to use Scanf and Printf (using code wa rrior IDE)

Hi,
I am begineer in both MPC5xx and Codewarrior.
I am dont a small work in MPC566 EVB from Axiom. I am trying to introduce my own code inside the code generated when new project is created.
I have tried using Scanf and Printf for I/O purpose. They are working only if the program has either scanf or printf.But if I write both in my code, it is not working properly. The one which comes first is only working good.
Kindly help me.
