building an interface is only half of the solution. you also need a driver package that supports it. as far as I know there are no free software drivers for the MPC500 BDM protocol. your cheapest solutions are:
 
P&E Microcomputer (http://www.pemicro.com <http://www.pemicro.com> )
PE supplies low cost BDM interfaces, C source level debuggers, and flash programming software.
 
Macraigor Systems (http://www.macraigor.com <http://www.macraigor.com> )
Macraigor supplies low cast BDM interfaces that work with the GNU GDB. They also have flash programming tools.
 
Both companies support internal and external flash programming.
 
if you want higher end tools than these, there are many other third parties that support these devices.
