Please read the general CAN spec before trying to use Toucan. CAN doesn't refer to bits as 0 and 1, it uses recessive and dominant. If several nodes transmit different logic states at the same time, the recessive bit will be blocked by the dominant bit. This is used for arbitration. Usually dominant is 0. The control bits allow you to specify whether the pin states are high or low for dominant bits i.e. They can invert the signal.
