Serial Data Communication!!

Dear All,
           I have 2 float data(e.g 120 and -25), which I want to send 
with a specified baudrate through UART serial communication (SCI-1) 
of MPC566.
I am trying to make a packet structure of 2 bytes that will include 
these data and checksum also.
Can anyone please tell me how to make this packet structure and what 
else is required to make this?
