Simple question: HOW does a TI6727 compare in CPU throughput to the MPC5567? Why I'm asking: I need to know the difference in speed between TI's 67XX DSP and the freescale MPC55xx DSPs (the MPC55XXs are targeted to automotive applications, we're actually looking for an avionics application.) We've already used TI's 6713 extensively and we know that for throughput it's fine, we're planning on moving to the 6727 which has a little more internal RAM, we know that the 6727 runs at 250Mhz and is measured at 1800 MFLOPs or 600 MMACs. We realize that final performance is somewhat application specific, we'd just like to get a ballpark idea on what the throughput is. For the MPC55XX application we're looking at the MPC5567 which has an internal clock speed of 132MHz. We aren't looking at any other factors like external memory access, IO, cache or etc, just throughput for a CPU running from internal RAM. The topic of MHz vs MFLOPs vs MMACs and RISC vs CISC is confusing enough and I couldn't find anything specific to the subject on the freescale website. Todd
