I suspect the two PHYTEC documents were written at different times, by diff=
erent authors, using different McCraigor BDM's.   ECP and EPP is what I had=
 used on older BDM's, so not sure on the comment saying to avoid those mode=
s.

Quick glance at McCraigors web site points out the MPDemon is compatible wi=
th all types of parallel ports, but ECP and EPP are recommended for best pe=
rformance.   Also is a note that PCI to Parallel Port Cards will improve pe=
rformance, which is recommended.

Some notebooks will mux the Parallel Port function with other devices, so d=
o check that the Parallel Port Cable is full IEEE-1284 compliant.   One 'tr=
ick' one laptops is to look for an open ground, so the Parallel Port become=

ttached).
