BeOS (and QNX) on OpenBrick

Dear OpenBrick users,

My preferred destop system is BeOS, and I have been trying to install
it on an OpenBrick. The work hasn't been as completely successful;
here's a short summary of what worked and what didn't.

The most recent version of BeOS I have tried is called Zeta from
Yellowtab. When installing it on a hard disk and transferring it to the
OpenBrick, the system works for as far as I have tested, and, most
notably, the audio works. However, the Zeta RC3 pre-release is far too
slow to be of any practical use. Given the added eye-candy (e.g. SVG-
icons) added to this version, I doubt that the final release will have
sufficient speed increase to result in a resposive system on an 300MHz
128MB OpenBrick.
My current desktop is BeOS R5 on a system with similar specifications,
which is very capable of most daily tasks; e.g. it remains responsive
whilst playing audio. On OpenBrick this BeOS R5 works quite well in
VESA mode; however, I couldn't get the sound and USB to work, even
after quite some tinkering. Especially the sound is a showstopper in my
case. Recently, an audio driver has been written and reported to work
well with VT82C686, which I believe is in this OpenBrick, yet it
doesn't seem to work.

Another lightweight system I have interested in is QNX, which I have
tried as well; both QNX4 and QNX6.2 appear to have the wrong video
driver, so the CLI works, but staring the windows interface (ph) gives
a flickering and garbled image. Given my limited interest in QNX as a
desktop system, I decided to leave it there, although apparently a
better 3rd party VESA driver is available nowadays.

If anyone has additional or different experiences I would be very
interested to hear from them; in the mean time, I am thinking of other
things to do with the OpenBrick.
