Bill,

Stephane asked me to make the changes off-list, and I didn't feel that it was my decision to make. The users of the group created the content, and they should decide what happens to it, so I asked him to make his pitch to the group so they can decide.

I decided to keep my personal opinion to myself, and present his proposal in an unbiased fashion for the users to decide.

I have heard from some people off-list, but so far the majority of responses have been to leave the archives open to non-members.

Or if he has any experience with it? Some of us go back to the beginning of the Rabbit. Others not so far back, but I suspect none of us expected anyone to be able to profit from this resource. It was created as an independent resource and hasn't changed since.
