I agree overall with your observations. I use Adobe Photoshop Album and would love to see the ability to have Photoshop Album create an ECP Script that would run a slide show via the HD1000. I have sent Adobe a request to add this feature, but naturally I don't expect them to. I don't know if you have delved into the ECP commands, but you could write a simple ECP Script that would do your slide shows and would not require you to rename all your images to get them to play in your selected order.
