Re: HD-1000 Memory expansion?

Interesting questions.  I will now type things that I did not type. If you
ever accuse me of typing these things, I will deny it!

Two chips are used for "video memory" type things.  Increasing their size
won't do much.

The other two are "system memory" and used by Linux.  Changing to bigger
chips (that have the correct [I.e. the same] CAS etc timing characteristics)
will change the memory to linux and apps.  Now, I don't think we support it
in software, but it is remotely possible that I am now filing a bug to
autodetect memory size upon boot for inclusion in 1.6 (late summer).

Needless to say, activities involving heat, solder, and surface mount chips
void the hd1000 warrantee.
